Breastfeeding
Miracle Story...
Karina Amaya
When I became pregnant, I was saddened by the fact
that I would not be able to bond with my child by way
of breastfeeding and that I would not be able to give
my baby the ultimate nourishment. I knew I would not
be able to do this because as most women have breast
sensitivity during pregnancy, I had none. No growth,
no sensitivity, no darkening, no apparent change…nothing.
This was a subject that came up with my childbirth educator
and hypnotherapist, Marie-Paul Baxiu. When she asked
me for the first time if I was planning on breastfeeding,
I began to cry. She listened intently as I explained
my situation to her and she reassured me that if I wanted
to breastfeed badly enough that I should make every
effort to make it possible. Although I had my doubts
at first, her persistence began to sink in. I started
to work with her on this and she trained me through
hypnosis to expect the unexpected, to believe, surrender,
and wait to see what happened. Little by little, with Marie-Paul's help,
I began to believe that maybe, just maybe, breastfeeding
was in my cards.
After I gave birth, I tried breastfeeding and pumping
with no results. I kept trying for the next few days
even though I saw no milk. Four days after the birth
of my baby, I felt my breasts harden and after squeezing
them, I saw the milk pour out. I was overjoyed and couldn't
stop the tears from streaming down my cheeks. I latched
my son onto my breast and he fed from me. It's the most
beautiful experience I have known.
Sadly, my milk supply was not the greatest and I had
to supplement my son's feedings with formula. However,
given my situation, I believe it is a miracle that I
was able to produce any milk at all. I am confident
that I will be able to produce enough milk to exclusively
breastfeed my next child. Thank you, Marie-Paul for
believing and making this impossibility possible.
Thank you so much,
